Korean Music Awards telah mengumumkan nominasi tahun ini. aespa bersaing dengan BIBI, Danpyunsun and the Moments Ensemble, Rosé BLACKPINK, dan SUMIN serta slom untuk kategori Song of the Year.
Tak hanya itu, aespa juga masuk nominasi Album of the Year dan bakal bersaing dengan Danpyunsun and the Moments Ensemble, Hyukoh serta Sunset Rollercoaster, Silica Gel, dan Sumin serta Slom untuk Album of the Year.
aespa juga masuk tiga nominasi lainnya, yakni Artist of the Year, Best K-pop Album, Best K-pop Song.
Sementara itu, G-Dragon juga masuk nominasi tahun ini setelah ia kembali dengan proyek musik terbarunya. Leader BIGBANG itu masuk nominasi Best Rap and Hip Hop Song melalui single terbarunya, Power.
Penentuan pemenang Korean Music Awards berfokus pada pencapaian musikal sebagai kriteria utamanya. Hal itu membuat ajang ini berbeda dari acara penghargaan musik lainnya di Korea Selatan.
Banyak penghargaan musik Korea Selatan lainnya yang biasanya menggunakan angka penjualan sebagai kriteria utama dalam menentukan pemenang setiap tahunnya.
Korean Music Awards juga lebih mementingkan album dan lagu itu sendiri.
